Marcy Home Gym Review

Marcy Home Gym Review

Home is a safe haven. It’s where we eat, spend time with family or someone dear, rest, and sleep. But it can also be where we work out.

Home gyms are getting more and more popular because of the many benefits it has. For one, you’ll be at home. You won’t have to travel to the gym where you spend a hefty amount of gym membership and other fees.

To maximize a home gym, it should have a home gym exercise equipment. Equipment like this has multiple tools and equipment of its own to make the most of your exercise.

I happened to find a great one in the Marcy Home Gym MWM-988.

This is a review so read on to know how I feel about it!

What is it?

Marcy Home Gym MWM-988 is a home gym exercise equipment that has a 150 lbs stack weight. It’s comparable to the 100 lb MKM-81030 and the 200 lb MKM-81010 except the stack weights weigh differently. What I have is the 150 lb MWM-988.

The whole thing is made from industrial-strength 14-gauge steel.

What does it have?

This home gym system includes

  • 150 lb weight stack (vinyl coated)
  • Two-way press arm
  • Lat bar
  • Adjustable preacher curl pad
  • Roller pads
  • Adjustable butterfly attachment
  • Dual-function leg developer
  • Exercise chart

Overall, it’s got a lot to offer. I tried all of them and they work incredibly well.

High-grade Steel

Industrial-grade 14 gauge steel makes up the tube frames while being coated with vinyl for added protection and durability. To change into your preferred weight, just re-insert the weight pin.

2 Pulley Station

There are 2 pulleys working together to lift weights easily. It uses the 2 lateral bars for exercises like pull-ups, pull-downs, pull-overs, and pulley rows. The pulley system along with the 2 parallel bars work together to help build muscle.

2-Function Press Arm

So you have two choices here. The first one is vertical butterfly. The other one is chest press.

Vertical butterfly works for both chest and arms. When this is set to press settings, the press will swing one by one to work the muscles. To get back to chest press exercise, just re-insert the pin.

Dual-function Leg Developer

2 pulleys in this equipment. The lower pulley, along with the dual-function leg developer helps you work your legs. It sets itself along the knee joints which are thickly padded for that comfortable fit and workout.

Adjustable Preacher Curl Pad

The bicep pads in this machine are completely adjustable. You won’t have a hard time with it. Doing barbell curls and hammer curls will be a breeze.

My Experience

I remember when it arrived, it wasn’t the best packaging. Well, I wasn’t expecting beautiful wrappers, bows, and ribbons, but the package was just in bad shape. Fortunately, everything inside was intact, undamaged, and complete.

I was also lucky that day because I had my buddy with me so I asked him to help me carry it to my personal gym room. But I did the assembly.

Assembly was brutal. I missed some parts and I did some re-assembling.

It took me 6 hours in total to complete it and it was a workout itself. I wonder how others do it so fast. But still, it was all worth it!

So I’ve had it for a few weeks now and I can say my thoughts about it. It may change in the course of time, who knows, but here are my honest views:

By the way, I’m 5’11”.

Okay, so I’m on the last days of my gym membership when I was putting it to the test. Therefore, I can say that my review would be valid.

First impression, it looks great and feels great. The only drawback was one dented weight and scratched seat. But hey, the machine still functions so I no longer thought about returning it.

To be honest I didn’t expect a lot. But thank God I was wrong. This thing works like it’s supposed to, and like a real gym equipment in the gym would.

I would wish that the back seat was adjustable. But this is not professional gym equipment. And for the price, you really can’t complain.

I tried everything this equipment could offer and everything’s going well so far. My muscles are sore (the good way), and I didn’t have back or shoulder pains.

My legs are killing it and my arms are looking great.

It doesn’t take much space in the room either, which is awesome. Maybe it’s because I have a seemingly spacious extra room in the house that I turned into a gym room.

If you don’t have much space in your gym room or if you workout with this in the living room, then it can take up some space.

  • Sturdy and durable
  • Everything works like they’re supposed to
  • Great for my height
  • I didn’t have any after pain and aches
  • Gives good resistance for butterfly
  • Doesn’t take too much space
  • Bad packaging
  • Takes long to assemble
  • Arrived with dents and scratches
  • Not for professionals or extreme gym rats

What is its dimension?

It measures 68 x 35 x 79 inches

How is it shipped?

It will be shipped by UPS or FedEx. I’m not exactly sure about USPS. But since it is gym equipment, it won’t be a regular package but rather a freight. And it can take a long time to deliver too.

Who is it best for?

It’s best for those who do regular gym workouts. This exercise equipment will tone and create muscle, but it won’t do much if you already are bulky and are looking to add more to it. It has its limits.

It’s great to have a home gym. If you have the extra room or at least the space, you can turn it into one.

Having a home gym is cost-efficient because you won’t have to pay for annual or even monthly gym membership. It also saves you time because you won’t have to travel to the gym and back to your place.

Moreover, you get to use your equipment yourself. Nobody will wait for you to finish nor will you have to wait for others to finish as well so you could use the equipment after them.

Queue in the gym? No, thank you. Not a fan. Actually, that’s what I don’t like in a gym with when members exceed the number of equipment.

This Marcy Home Gym 150lb Stack MWM-988 is a great find. I believe it is and you will too.
